Justice Beyond Retaliation: The Tragic Case of Laiba Ijaz | Barrister Muzamil Kaisrani

The legal fraternity and the public are left in profound grief following a deeply disturbing incident involving a brilliant young mind. Laiba Ijaz, a gold medallist in physics from the International Islamic University Islamabad, held aspirations of pursuing her higher education at Harvard University.

To achieve her dream, she sought assistance from a visa consultant identified as Muhammad Noman. Trusting the process, she paid approximately 9.3 million Pakistani Rupees. Tragically, the visa documents, slips, and approvals provided turned out to be completely forged and falsified.

When the horrifying reality of the fraud came to light, the immense emotional turmoil, heartbreak, and despair drove her to take her own life on the 9th of October 2026. This devastating loss highlights a severe vulnerability in how citizens seeking legitimate opportunities are exploited by fraudulent operators.

Legal Action and Accountability

Following the tragedy, law enforcement initiated action. A five day physical remand was granted for the accused, Muhammad Noman, on the 12th of October 2026. Later, on the 20th of October 2026, reports indicated that the accused attempted to evade authorities, resulting in an encounter with the Counter Terrorism Department.

A Critical Viewpoint from the Legal System

Practicing in Lahore Pakistan, Barrister Muzamil Hasnain Kaisrani raises vital questions regarding the direction of societal and legal mechanisms. When systemic failures occur, how should justice be pursued?

The core inquiry remains whether society should lean toward extra-legal outcomes or strictly repose trust in the courts of law. The judicial framework must remain the ultimate sanctuary for justice, ensuring that grievances find proper resolution through due process rather than collapse into disorder. The rule of law must prevail to protect aspiring students from fraudulent elements.
